About
Behind the .fyi
Duncanville fyi is your weekly guide to arts, culture, and dining in Duncanville, Texas, the City of Champions. It is published every Tuesday by the Duncanville Arts Foundation.
What we publish
We cover arts, culture, and dining in Duncanville. The calendar organizes events into seven categories: Music, Visual Art, Theater, Literary, Workshop, Community, and Youth, with dining events placed under the category that best fits the gathering. Each Tuesday we review submissions, verify details, and publish what’s coming up.
Listings are free. We don’t run paid placements. We don’t take advertising. Editorial decisions rest with the Foundation’s editorial team. For criteria and how to submit, see the Submit an event page.
Why this exists
Cultural activity happens in Duncanville every week. It happens at the Public Library, in Armstrong Park, at the Duncanville Fieldhouse, at the Duncanville Community Theatre on Main Street, and in venues, studios, and storefronts that don’t always make it onto wider regional listings. The Foundation publishes the .fyi to make this activity visible to residents who want to know what’s happening this week, to visitors planning a trip, and to arts organizations who benefit from each other’s audiences.
The .fyi also supports cultural tourism. Duncanville sits in the Best Southwest area of Dallas County, with hotels, restaurants, and a city-designated Cultural District anchored by Armstrong Park. Visible arts activity attracts overnight visitors and reinforces the cultural identity that makes Duncanville worth visiting.

Editorial approach
The Foundation exercises editorial discretion over what appears on the .fyi. We publish events that are open to the public, that have a clear arts or cultural purpose, and that meet basic standards of accuracy. We may edit submissions for clarity, length, and house style. We may decline events that don’t meet our criteria.
Our writing voice is plain, declarative, and warm. We don’t hype. We don’t use hyperbole. We try to write the way a thoughtful local newspaper columnist would: direct, accurate, generous with context.
The bigger picture
Duncanville fyi is the Duncanville edition of ArtsIndex.org, a platform that anchors local arts activity and supports cultural tourism in any city that adopts it. As ArtsIndex.org develops, other cities will be able to deploy their own editions on the same infrastructure, with independent editorial stewardship.
